IPL 2021: KKR’s Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrier tested COVID positive, according to reports

RCB Vs KKR has been postponed due to COVID-19 protocols

The game between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in IPL 2021 has been put on hold. The match between KKR and RCB was originally scheduled for Monday, May 3. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is reportedly preparing to revise the KKR vs RCB match, with the new date to be declared on Monday afternoon.

The announcement that KKR vs RCB had been delayed sparked a social media frenzy. “Why is KKR vs RCB postponed?” and “Is the IPL cancelled?” fans wondered. To address the question, “Is the IPL 2021 deferred?” the IPL 2021 is not yet deferred. The KKR vs RCB game, however, has been deferred after two KKR players showed symptoms for COVID-19.

Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrier, according to reports, are two KKR players who have tested positive for the unholy virus. In addition, many participants of the KKR camp, including Australian speedster Pat Cummins, have become ill and have withdrawn themselves.

The foregoing progress is likely to cause some concern in the public. Notably, the IPL 2021, which is now halfway through, is being conducted behind locked doors, with no fans present. Both IPL 2021 franchises, as well as all IPL 2021 staff, are held in bio-secure bubbles. However, the emergence of the COVID cases involving Sandeep Warrier and Varun Chakravarthy has put the tournament’s future in peril.

The way BCCI approaches the case would be fun to watch. In the meantime, KKR’s IPL 2021 initiative has been marred by uncertainty so far. The Men in Purple are in the final place on the IPL 2021 points table, with two victories and five losses.

KKR’s bowling has been a major disappointment, and they are still in the bottom half of the league. Their batters must step up and provide even better results. The KKR 2021 squad will be looking for a swift rebound, as another pair of defeats will almost certainly kill their hopes of making the IPL playoffs in 2021.
