Rajasthan Royals reclaims a 6 wicket win dominating the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede after a great defeat by RCB at the same venue.

Rajasthan Royals had a suffering start at the tournament and a one-sided loss against RCB by 10 wickets, at the Wankhede itself. However, Rajasthan made a strong comeback facing Kolkata Knight riders and defeating them by six wickets. RR won the toss and decided to field first and it worked exactly as they planned.

RR choked Kolkata Knight Riders with their bowling attacks. KKR only managed to score 25 runs off the first six overs including a classy run out of Shubhman Gill (11) by Jos Buttler for another low scoring performance. However, things didn’t go according to Kolkata at all, they lost three more wickets in quick succession.

It was the expensive Chris Morris who did the magic with ball by cracking four wickets including Dinesh Karthik (25), Pat Cummins (10), Shivam Mavi (5) and the power-hitter Andrew Russell (9). He also departed Eoin Morgan (0) for a diamond duck by a cheeky run-out because of Morgans fellow mate Tripathi’s silly confusion.

Jaydev Unadkat, Chetan Sakariya and Mustafizur Rahman contributed with one wicket each to restrict Kolkata for 133 for 8. There were some really brilliant catches provided by young lads. one by debutant of the season, Yashasvi Jaiswal and two by Riyan Parag with a unique celebration.

However, KKR tried their best to turn the tables and managed to take two early wickets of Jos Buttler (5) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (22). It was only Varun Chakravarthy to deliver KKR with two wickets. But however, Royal’s Samson played a captain’s inning scoring 42 runs (not out) with two fours and one maximum to guide RR to register a dominating win accompanied by Shivam Dube (22) and later David Miller (24*) in the 19th over. Rajasthan’s star all-rounder, Chris Morris received the man of the match for delivering the man in brink with the ball.

“I kept my mind clear today and delivered my best. Conditions also change and seeing him hit in the last game was a challenge. A lot of years playing against him (Andrew Russell) has helped me understand his game and get him out a couple of times. We got the motivation for our team and we need to keep smiling now and keep going ahead in the game. Our supporters are one big reason for doing so” said Morris.

With this win, Rajasthan pushes Kolkata to the last spot in the points table while delivering one of their best all-round performance.
