IPL 2024: Rahul Dravid likely to replace Gautam Gambhir as Lucknow Super Giants mentor

Rahul Dravid, India’s head coach, is reportedly in talks with IPL team Lucknow Super Giants. If everything falls into place, Dravid can become the LSG mentor ahead of the IPL 2024 season. But everything depends on what transpires between Dravid and the BCCI. The former India captain’s time as Team India’s head coach came to an end with the conclusion of the ODI World Cup. He was named men’s team head coach following the T20 World Cup in 2021 on a two-year deal till the World Cup this year.

India did not win an ICC trophy under Dravid, although they were outstanding in big matches. Currently, they are the top-ranked team in each of the three formats. They had won ten straight World Cup games, but in the last match against Australia, they were unable to cross the final hurdle.

According to Dainik Jagran, the BCCI is set to meet with Dravid to discuss his future plans, although he is unlikely to seek an extension. He wants to spend time with his family, which would be impossible if he stayed as India’s head coach due to the team’s hectic schedule.

This is where a partnership with an IPL franchise may help. The IPL goes on for only two months. This gives Dravid plenty of time to be with his family while still staying connected with the game as a coach.
