IPL 2025: Kolkata’s Eden Gardens to host season opener and final; Check full schedule

Eden Gardens, the home ground of Kolkata Knight Riders, will host the IPL 2025 final on May 25. The tournament opener is also scheduled at the venue on March 22, featuring KKR against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Additionally, Eden Gardens will host Qualifier 2 on May 23.

This marks the first IPL final in Kolkata in a decade, with the last two hosted in 2013 and 2015. Meanwhile, Hyderabad, home of last year’s runners-up Sunrisers Hyderabad, will host Qualifier 1 on May 20 and the Eliminator on May 21.

The 74-match tournament will span 65 days, featuring 12 double-headers. The season’s first Sunday (March 23) will see Sunrisers Hyderabad face Rajasthan Royals, followed by the high-profile Chennai Super Kings vs. Mumbai Indians clash.

A total of 13 venues will host IPL 2025 matches, including secondary home grounds for Rajasthan Royals (Guwahati), Delhi Capitals (Visakhapatnam), and Punjab Kings (Dharamsala). While Guwahati and Vizag will host two matches each, Dharamsala will see three games this season. Punjab Kings will have a rare stretch of three consecutive home games from May 4 to 11.

Teams have been divided into two groups, following the same format as previous years. Each team will face its group opponents and one team from the other group twice, while playing the remaining four teams once.

Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians, despite being in separate groups, will meet twice—first on March 23 and again on April 20 at Wankhede Stadium. RCB, Mumbai, Punjab, and LSG will play their first home matches in April, with RCB closing their league campaign with four home games in their last six matches at M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
