Kiwis tops the ICC Test rankings after defeating England

New Zealand and England were up against each other in a two-match Test series where the first match resulted in a draw, however, the Kiwis managed to bag the second game.  By winning the second game of the two-match Test series, the blackcaps have now achieved the top position of the ICC Test team rankings with 123 points in their kitty.  India who had 121 points in their bag has now fallen to the second position of the world rankings.

The particular game turned out to be a mega moment as the visitors won a series on English soil after 22 long years.  New Zealand’s fast bowler Matt Henry was declared as the man of the match for putting an impressive show with the ball where he picked three wickets each in both innings for the winning side.

The event got over on day four as both Henry and ace pacer Trent Boult were extraordinary with the ball. England batsman Rory Burn was declared as the man of the series for his impressive performance throughout the series. Henry who spoke after the match said “We put that pressure on and got wickets in clumps. Easy to get motivated, playing Tests cricket for NZ, every time you get that opportunity you enjoy it, want to go out and do your role. Knowing the series was on the line, doesn’t get better, great to be on the right side of it”

Now, New Zealand will be facing the Indian side in the final game of the World Test Championship which is set to begin on 18th June 2021.
