KS Bharat roped as a replacement of Wriddhiman Saha for England tour

Indian wicketkeeper and batsman Kona Srikar Bharat better known as KS Bharat is set to travel to the United Kingdom with the Indian men’s squad for the upcoming World Test Championship (WTC) final against New Zealand.

Though wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha has already recovered from COVID-19 recently and prior to entering the bio bubble in Mumbai before leaving for the UK on the 2nd of June. This has been decided after considering the COVID-19 protocols and guidelines and also the selection committee doesn’t want to take any risk.

Speaking to ANI the source said, “He was added as cover for Saha considering he was still recovering from the virus and wicket-keeping is a specialized job. If Saha wasn’t fit in time, we would have needed a second keeper in the squad for the tour which is a three-month-long one.”

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had made an effective plan for the Indian team the World Test Championship (WTC) final against New Zealand and the five-match Test series against England before they depart for the United Kingdom.

The BCCI plans to do three RT-PCR tests before entering the bio-bubble in Mumbai on Wednesday in charter planes. UK health department will administer the second COVID-19 vaccine to the Indian players.
