Loco Pilot found Gas Cylinder on Railway Track Near Prempur; 4th Attempt to Derail Train This Month

On Sunday morning, a potential railway disaster was averted when a goods train traveling from Kanpur to Prayagraj was forced to halt after the loco-pilot applied emergency brakes upon spotting a gas cylinder lying on the tracks near Prempur station in Uttar Pradesh. This marks the fourth derailment attempt in the region this month.

The railway police quickly removed the cylinder from the tracks and have launched an investigation into the matter. Upon inspection by railway officials, the cylinder was found empty.

According to the Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of North Central Railway, the goods train was brought to a stop at 5:50 am after a cylinder was detected. The situation is under investigation, with security teams examining the cylinder and the incident being closely monitored.

This marks the fourth time in September that such an attempt has been made. Earlier this month, a major accident was narrowly averted when the Prayagraj-Bhiwani Kalindi Express collided with an LPG cylinder placed on the tracks. A senior police official indicated that an effort had been made to derail the Kalindi Express. The Railway Protection Force and forensic teams are continuing to probe these repeated incidents.

In this latest case, the loco-pilot managed to stop the train after spotting the cylinder. The train struck the cylinder before coming to a halt, causing the object to move off the tracks and preventing further damage. Authorities are working to uncover who is behind these repeated attempts to derail trains in the region.
