The ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles have caused significant disruption to Hollywood’s events and productions, forcing numerous cancellations and reschedulings. Wildfires in areas like Pacific Palisades, Eaton Canyon, San Fernando Valley, and Riverside County have caused widespread destruction, including loss of homes, and have led to mass evacuations.
In response to the escalating situation, several major Hollywood events have been postponed or canceled. Notable events like the Critics Choice Awards, AARP Movies for Grownups Awards, and the BAFTA Tea Party have been rescheduled, while premieres for films such as The Last Showgirl and Back in Action have been canceled.
Television productions, including Grey’s Anatomy, NCIS, Doctor Odyssey, Hacks, and Abbott Elementary, have halted filming due to safety concerns. Late-night shows such as Jimmy Kimmel Live and After Midnight have also paused production.
In addition, other events like the GALECA Dorian Film Awards, Mammoth Film Festival, and the 2025 Critics Choice Awards have been postponed to February 2025. The Academy Award Nominations, AARP Movies for Grownups Awards, and the WGA Awards Nominations have similarly been rescheduled.
The in-person presentations for the 2025 SAG Awards, the British Academy Tea Party, and other high-profile events have also been canceled. The premieres for upcoming films like The Last Showgirl, The Pitt, Better Man, and Unstoppable have been called off.
Even comedic performances have been affected, as Only Murders in the Building stars Martin Short and Steve Martin canceled their comic tour in Florida, showing the widespread impact of the ongoing crisis.
