Mandy Moore is heartbroken over the LA wildfire devastating her beloved Altadena community

Mandy Moore is grieving the loss of her Altadena community, which has been devastated by the ongoing LA wildfires. The This Is Us star, 40, shared an emotional update on Instagram on January 8, revealing how the wildfire has severely impacted her neighborhood.

Moore posted a video showing the destruction around her area in northeast LA, with buildings still burning. “This is Altadena. Leveled. My sweet home. I am devastated and gutted for those of us who’ve lost so much. I’m absolutely numb,” she wrote over the video, expressing her shock and sorrow for the damage.

While it wasn’t clear if Moore’s personal home was directly affected, her community definitely was. She followed up her initial post with a more detailed update, sharing her gratitude that her family and pets managed to evacuate in time. “Grateful for my family and pets getting out last night before it was too late (and endless gratitude to friends for taking us in and bringing us clothes and blankets),” Moore wrote. “Honestly, I’m in shock and feeling numb for all so many have lost, including my family.”

The actress continued to reflect on the destruction, noting that her children’s school and their favorite restaurant were gone. “Our community is broken, but we will be here to rebuild together,” she wrote. “Sending love to all affected and to those on the front lines trying to get this under control.”

Earlier that day, Moore had shared via Instagram Stories that she and her family had evacuated, unsure whether their home had survived the fire. Moore lives with her husband, Taylor Goldsmith, 39, and their three young children: August ‘Gus’ Harrison, 3, Oscar ‘Ozzie’ Bennett, 2, and 3-month-old Loise Everett.

The actress had recently completed a six-year renovation of their home, sharing her excitement about the project’s progress on social media. In February 2023, she revealed that the renovation was nearly finished, with only final touches remaining. Moore’s previous home in Pasadena, California, was also featured on the cover of Architectural Digest in 2018.
