Netflix Locks In Seven-Figure Deal for Adaptation of Ana Huang’s Twisted Series

Netflix is diving deeper into the world of steamy romance adaptations with its latest acquisition: The Twisted Series by Ana Huang, a BookTok sensation that has captivated millions of readers. According to Variety, the streaming giant reportedly paid a hefty seven-figure sum to lock down the rights to bring the four-book series to the screen.

Described as a sizzling, drama-filled new adult series, The Twisted Series centers on four best friends and their irresistibly brooding love interests—each harboring dark secrets. As the characters navigate complicated relationships and emotional baggage, they must overcome various obstacles to find love. Think passionate romance, tension-filled drama, and plenty of swoon-worthy moments.

At this stage, Netflix has not announced a cast, so fans will have to wait and see which actors will bring these beloved characters to life.

This adaptation is the latest in Netflix’s growing collection of romance book-to-screen hits, following the massive success of franchises like Bridgerton and Virgin River. Given the popularity of The Twisted Series, Netflix is likely betting on another viral hit.

Huang’s bestselling series kicked off with Twisted Love in 2021, followed by Twisted Games, Twisted Hate, and Twisted Lies. A central theme across all four books is forbidden love, with each installment offering a mix of angsty romance, intense chemistry, and emotional depth.

Since its release, The Twisted Series has sold over 12 million copies worldwide, with readers drawn to its mix of passion, heartbreak, and redemption. However, fans should note that the books come with a content warning—Huang herself has stated that they contain explicit scenes.

Beyond The Twisted Series, Ana Huang is a powerhouse in the romance genre. She has published 13 books across multiple series, selling over 18 million copies globally. Her most recent release, The Striker, came out in October 2024, and she’s not slowing down anytime soon. Readers can look forward to King of Envy in April and The Defender in October.

Huang is represented by Park, Fine & Brower Literary Management, Independent Artist Group, Jill Fritzo PR, and Granderson Des Rochers, LLP—ensuring that her work continues to reach eager readers and, soon, a global streaming audience.
