New Zealand has an upper hand over India in the World Test Championship, says Indian bowling coach Bharat Arun

The World Test Championship finals between India and New Zealand will be held at the South Hampton.

The World Test Championship finals between India and New Zealand will be held at the South Hampton after shifting it from Lords. Indian bowling coach Bharat Arun states that New Zealand definitely has an advantage on English pitches over India because of Kiwis likeliness to the conditions. Both the teams will lock horns on June 18 2021. New Zealand will have an upper hand amid playing their two-Test match series against England before the main event of the WTC.

“See, It is definitely an advantage for them (New Zealand), getting used to English conditions and things like that”, Arun told PTI.

India will be flying to England in the first week of June and will be hard quarantined for a week before facing the Kiwis. COVID-19 crisis resulting in a very short span for the boys to prepare for the finals will be a challenge in front of Kohli and his boys.

“We would like to make the most of what we get because it all depends on how many days of hard or soft quarantine we are going to have when we are going to land and if at all getting a practice game, so I don’t think we have a choice.” India’s fielding coach Ramakrishnan Sridhar stated to PTI.

However both Bharat Arun and R Sridhar feels that the Adept experience with the players will sideline all the hurdles. India annoucned its 20 men squad including the return of Mohmmad Shami, Hanuman Vihari and Ravindra Jadeja making a comeback finally recovering from all their past injuries individually. Unfortunately, KL Rahul and Wridhiman Saha will be announced seeing to their health and fitness particularly.

“It’s time to be mentally smart, we have a very experienced team going to the final. Each guy is capable of adapting to the situation. They have played against New Zealand and played in England as well. So, I think that experience will count and we will have to come to the fore, because we really can’t plan as to how many sessions we want because we only have to take what is given to us.” Sridhar said to PTI.

Arun mentioned that although New Zealand will have the advantage of playing two Test against England before the WTC finals, India will make sure they have a good insight on how the Kiwis are adjusting and performing on the England conditions also how the host team is putting in their side.

“England is playing New Zealand before us. So that will give us a good insight into how the New Zealanders are playing in English conditions, and also how the English men are playing right now. The present form is extremely important for us to plan and the quarantine period in England would give us enough time to take into consideration all the factors and make plans accordingly.” Arun concluded.

The trio reunion of Ishant Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohmmad Shami will be a plus point for the Indian Side also Virat’s full time presence will boost the team as well. India’s historic win against Australia at the Gabba was a remark on what the team is capable of despite of the absence of team’s major pillars.
