Nora Fatehi distances herself from Sarke Chunar controversy; says she never approved Hindi version

Actor-dancer Nora Fatehi has responded to the growing controversy surrounding the song Sarke Chunar from KD: The Devil, stating that she had no involvement in its Hindi version. The track has drawn widespread criticism for its explicit lyrics, with the issue even reaching Parliament, where the Information and Broadcasting Ministry confirmed that a ban has been enforced.

Addressing the matter through social media, Nora clarified that she had originally signed on to perform only for the Kannada version of the song and was unaware that a Hindi adaptation would be released. She emphasised that no permission had been taken to use her image in the Hindi version, distancing herself from the controversy.

As backlash intensified online, Nora urged audiences to stop circulating the song, noting that continued sharing only amplified its reach. At the same time, she expressed concern over personal attacks directed at her, stating that criticism of the song should not turn into character judgments.

The controversy led to swift action from the makers, who removed the video featuring Nora and Sanjay Dutt from platforms. The song, originally composed in Kannada and later translated into Hindi by lyricist Raqueeb Alam, had already faced objections over its content.

With strong reactions from audiences, public figures, and political voices, the episode has once again sparked debate around creative responsibility and consent in multi-language film releases.
