The YouTube show “India’s Got Latent” was the target of a lawsuit filed by the Maharashtra Cyber Cell on Tuesday following contentious comments made in one of its episodes.
As per ANI Maharashtra Cyber Cell stated, “A case has been filed against a total of 30 to 40 people. A case has been filed against all the people who were involved from the first episode of the show to episode 6. The process of sending notices to everyone has been started. Everyone will be called to record their statements.”
According to an official cited by PTI, the Cyber Department has filed a case under the applicable provisions of the IT Act and requested the deletion of all 18 episodes of the comedy series. The Cyber Department discovered throughout its investigation that “vulgar and obscene” language was used in the show by both contestants and other people connected to it, such as visitors.
According to him, it has shortlisted such individuals, including guests and show judges. After YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia’s comments on the show hosted by comedian Samay Raina were judged inappropriate and disparaging, the controversy broke out.
The creators of the show as well as social media influencers Ranveer Allahbadia, Samay Raina, Apoorva Mukhija, Ashish Chanchlani, and Jaspreet Singh have been called in by the National Commission for Women (NCW). The NCW stated in a statement that the remarks, which have caused a great deal of public outcry, “violate the dignity and respect owed to every individual, particularly in a society that upholds equality and mutual respect.”
Before the commission, the women’s body has requested that they attend in person. According to the statement, the hearing would be held at the NCW office in New Delhi on February 17, 2025, at 12:00 p.m.
