The Mumbai police announced on Monday that they had launched an investigation into prominent podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia for his ‘controversial remarks’ on the India’s Got Latent event, which is hosted by another renowned YouTuber, Samay Raina.
Allahbadia, known for his channel BeerBiceps, made the comments on a recent episode of the show, where he appeared as a guest with other popular video creators Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, and Apoorva Mukhija. According to Dikshit Gedam, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Zone 9, Mumbai police, “an inquiry is going on (in the matter).”
According to sources, a police squad arrived Monday afternoon at Khar’s Habitat building, where the show was shot. Two Mumbai attorneys, Ashish Rai and Pankaj Mishra, filed a formal complaint with the Mumbai police on Monday morning, alleging that offensive remarks were made against women, parents, and their bodily parts in response to the contentious remark.
Advocate Rai stated, “Police should thoroughly investigate the matter and file a formal complaint against the organiser, the online platform, the artists, and others involved.” Despite their investigation, the police have not yet filed a formal complaint.
