In the photos, NLE Choppa wore a saggy, sheer outfit that had a lot going on. He paired the outfit with a low brown belt, white socks, and brown leather shoes. The look was over-the-top, and not in a good way. As the shoot went on, things got more daring—he took off his top completely, leaving just the saggy pants. The rapper often experiments with his fashion choices, but this particular look had extra meaning—it was a teaser for his upcoming album, PICASSO: SLUFFIN SZN X S**T SZN, which dropped on December 24. NLE Choppa also shared an image of Michael Jackson wearing a gold outfit, hinting that it inspired his album cover.
However, the response from fans was not what NLE Choppa had hoped for. The comments were filled with criticism, especially about the saggy pants. One fan simply wrote, “10 hells & 10 naws.” Another commented, “Sagging in this outfit is crazy.” Some fans tried to find positives in the outfit, with one suggesting, “He could’ve worn the shorts with no draws like it looks like he had on, but with a different top.” Still, the overall reaction wasn’t favorable, with another fan saying, “I’m happy he’s trying, but it’s a no from me.” Someone else added, “Love that he takes risks, but the Baptist Pastor 11s with white socks threw it off for me.”
On top of the fashion critique, some fans also commented on NLE Choppa’s recent remarks about his sexuality. He had addressed the speculation in an interview with Paper Magazine, saying that people’s assumptions gave him a chance to further fuel the rumors, even though he knew they were untrue. He also expressed his respect for the LGBT+ community but confirmed he is not bisexual. “I love women when it comes to intimacy,” he stated.
Though his outfit didn’t resonate with his fans on Instagram, NLE Choppa’s bold fashion choices could still make waves on a big stage, like the Met Gala. Fashion is about taking risks, and while this look didn’t hit the mark for many, it’s clear he’s unafraid to experiment with his style.
