
Bangladesh cricketer Shakib Al Hasan who showed dissent against the umpire’s decisions by kicking and uprooting the stumps during a Dhaka Premier League game has now been banned for four matches of the ongoing tournament. Also, he was leading the Mohammedan Sporting Club in the game against Abahani Limited.
Although there is no official statement put out by the Bangladesh Cricket Board, BDCricTime has reported that the Mohammedan Sporting Club confirmed that their captain has got banned for four matches. The umpires were also submitted to report regarding the incident and the Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis (CCDM) finalized the all-rounder’s punishment.
Accordingly, the left arm all-rounder will be restricted to play in 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th rounds of the tournament. According to the laws of the DPL, the 34-year-old has been accused of violating level three of which Shakib has broken two sections.
The cricketer posted regarding the incident on Facebook saying, “I apologize to the teams, management, tournament officials and organizing committee for this human error. Hopefully, I won’t be repeating this again in the future. Thanks and love you all.”
The video of Shakib Al Hasan’s actions had gone viral within minutes of the incident and many criticized his conduct with regards to the incident.
