The Sri Lankan Cricket Selection Committee has named a 25-man squad for the upcoming limited-overs series against India. Dasun Shanaka has been assigned a captaincy role for the Lankan team, with Kusal Perera missing out due to an injury.
Dhananjaya De Silva has been named as vice-captain of the 25-man Sri Lankan team. As reported by various media outlets earlier, fast bowler Binura Fernando will miss the ODI series but is expected to be available for the T20I series. Fast-bowler Lahiru Kumara has made a comeback to the Sri Lankan side for a limited-overs game after more than a year. He was last seen in ODI cricket in 2019.
“The squad was approved by the Minister of Youth and Sports Honorable Namal Rajapaksa.” Sri Lanka Cricket quoted in a release.
The 3-match ODI series had to be rescheduled after COVID-19 cases emerged inside the Lankan camp. The series now begins on 18 July with an ODI match in Colombo. The ODI series will be followed by a three-match T20I series.
