According to reports, actress Kim Min-hee and her partner, director Hong Sang-soo, are expecting their first child. The 42-year-old actor and 64-year-old filmmaker will soon become parents, according to a report released by the South Korean news portal Dispatch on Friday.
Kim and Hong found out they were pregnant last summer, and the baby is due this spring, according to the story. She is six months along in her pregnancy. In December, the couple was seen out and about, dining together in Seoul and shopping at the neighbourhood market. They allegedly went to an obstetrics clinic on January 15 and remained unconcerned when they were noticed.
They live close to Kim’s parents in Hanam, Gyeonggi Province, where Hong relocated from Apgujeong-dong, Seoul.
Despite the fact that Kim and Hong have not yet confirmed the allegation, people responded to it online. Given the tumultuous history of Kim and Hong’s relationship, the news appeared to shock Korean fans.
Their collaboration on Right Now, Wrong Then, which coincidentally chronicles the intoxication of a filmmaker and an artist, marked the beginning of their relationship in 2015. When they came clean about their affair in 2017, they made their relationship public. Although he has been living with Kim for the past nine years, Hong and his wife have been officially married since 1985.
The marriage produced a daughter for him. He filed for divorce in 2016, but the court denied his petition in 2019, saying, “Our legal precedent does not permit divorce claims from the at-fault party,” according to The Korea Herald. Kim has only appeared in Hong’s films since the incident, including The Day After, Hotel By The River, and The Woman Who Ran.
