According to scriptwriter Lindsey Anderson Beer, Star Trek 4 is still in the works. Seven years have passed since Star Trek Beyond’s predecessor warped onto the big screen with Idris Elba as the villainous Krall, but Captain James T. Kirk and the crew of the USS Enterprise (played by Chris Pine) are still waiting for their next adventure.
Despite a significant pause, Beer assured Collider that progress is still being made, saying: “It’s still on the tracks. I had to leave that project, which I loved, in order to direct [Pet Sematary: Bloodlines], and it was a difficult thing to do. However, I adore everyone associated with that initiative”.
Zachary Quinto, who plays Spock, described the scenario as “complicated” before. He said last month, “I think there’s a lot of other stuff, creative things. It’s kind of a miracle that anything excellent is ever produced”.
Zachary continues, “In my opinion, it has to do with different people’s agendas and expectations of what it will be. And I have no idea if or when it will occur. And if it comes together once more and we return and are successful, fantastic. We had a terrific run even if not”.
