Tamim Iqbal, the captain of Bangladesh, was fined 15% of the match fee for using “audible obscenity”

Bangladesh skipper Tamim Iqbal has been fined 15% of his match fee for breaching Level 1 of the ICC code of conduct which relates to “use of an audible obscenity” during the third ODI against Sri Lanka.

Tamim Iqbal, the captain of Bangladesh, has been penalized 15% of his match fee for violating Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the third ODI against Sri Lanka in Dhaka. Tamim was judged to have violated Article 2.3 of the ICC code of conduct for players and player support personnel, which prohibits the “use of an audible obscenity during an international match,” according to an ICC statement.

“In addition, one demerit point has been added to Tamim’s disciplinary record, as this was his first offence in a 24-month period,” the statement said.

Tamim used harsh words following a failed review of his caught-behind dismissal in the 10th over of Bangladesh’s innings on Friday. There was no need for a formal hearing because the Bangladesh captain recognized the crime and accepted the sentence imposed by ICC Match Referee Neeyamur Rashid.

The charge was levelled by on-field umpires Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid and Tanvir Ahmed, third umpire Gazi Sohel, and fourth official Masudur Rahman. Level 1 violations incur a minimum punishment of an official reprimand, a maximum penalty of 50% of a player’s match fee, and one or two demerit points, according to the ICC.

Kusal Perera struck a magnificent number in the third ODI before Dushmantha Chameera recorded career-best stats to help Sri Lanka defeat Bangladesh on Friday. Sri Lanka defeated Bangladesh by 97 runs to earn their first World Cup Super League points. Despite losing on the night, the hosts won the ODI series 2-1.
