Indian boxer Mary Kom crashed out of the Tokyo Olympics after losing 2-3 to Colombian boxer in the pre-quarterfinals of the 51kg flyweight category. Six-time world champion Indian boxer MC Mary Kom lost to Colombia’s Ingrit Valencia in a round-16 match in the women’s boxing event at the Tokyo Olympics. Mary Kom, who was considered a strong contender for India’s medal lost a very close match.
Mary Kom’s loss in the pre-quarterfinal match in this way has given a big blow to India’s medal hopes. While Ingrit Valencia managed to impress three judges with her performance, Mary Kom impressed only two judges in the match.
Indian women’s boxer MC Mary Kom faced Colombia’s Ingrit Valencia in the round-16 match of the 51 kg weight category on the seventh day at the Tokyo Olympics. In the first round of this match, Mary Kom lost by 1-4. But in the second round, Mary Kom made a spectacular comeback to register a 3-2 win.
While Mary Kom appeared defensive in the first round, she showed an aggressive game in the second round. However, Mary Kom suffered a 2-3 loss in the third round, and with this India’s medal hopes from Mary Kom in boxing also ended.
