Veteran actor Rajinikanth, 73, was admitted to a private hospital in Chennai late on Monday, according to a report from news agency PTI. Sources indicate that the actor is set to undergo an elective heart-related procedure on Tuesday. While Rajinikanth’s condition remains stable, there has been no official statement from his family or the hospital yet.
This isn’t the first health scare for the legendary actor. In 2020, Rajinikant was admitted to a Hyderabad hospital due to severe hypertension and exhaustion. He was discharged after his condition stabilized and was advised a period of rest.
The hospitalization comes just days before the release of Rajinikanth’s highly anticipated 170th film, Vettaiyan, directed by TJ Gnanavel. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on October 10, and excitement is already building after the production company unveiled the title teaser on Rajinikanth’s 73rd birthday.
Vettaiyan features a star-studded cast, including Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Ritika Singh, Manju Warrier, and Dushara Vijayan. The film’s music has been composed by Anirudh Ravichander, adding to the buzz surrounding its release.
Following Vettaiyan, Rajinikanth is set to appear in another major project, Coolie, which is slated for release in 2025. Fans are eagerly awaiting updates on both the superstar’s health and his upcoming films.
