WhatsApp to launch a public outreach exercise to explain disputed privacy policy

WhatsApp has come to a decision to launch a public outreach exercise to clarify its questionable privacy policy to its users, laying out in more detail what the policy includes.

This decision was taken in response to its new and highly controversial privacy policy that allowed WhatsApp to share its users’ private data with Facebook without giving the users an option to avoid it.

In a blog post published by WhatsApp the company wrote, “In the coming weeks, we’ll display a banner in WhatsApp providing more information that people can read at their own pace. We’ve also included more information to try and address concerns we’re hearing. Eventually, we’ll start reminding people to review and accept these updates to keep using WhatsApp.”

WhatsApp was supposed to enforce the policy from February 8, but it was pushed back due to privacy concerns from the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology.
