Former police officer Kiran Bedi was suddenly removed from the Lieutenant Governor (L-G) post in Puducherry, a surprise even to her.
She was looking at the COVID-19 vaccination programme when news reached her that she is not going to serve as L-G any longer. She then posted on her twitter handle bidding farewell to ‘Team Raj Nivas’ where she stayed during her stint as L-G. She posted, “whatever was done was my sacred duty fulfilling my constitutional and moral responsibilities.” Many assume that the reason why she was removed was because of her constant problems with the Congress government. She formerly contested for the post of CM in Delhi on a BJP ticket.
Puducherry has an assembly of 33 seats but right now, only 28 seats are in the House due to 3 resignations and disqualification of an MLA.V Narayanaswamy from Congress, with whom Bedi has issues in particular, lost his majority in the House after the 4 seats were left empty.
