Former Indian fast bowler stated that he is surprised after Indian pacer Ishant Sharma is considered number three for the upcoming WTC final for the Indian side even after playing 100 Test matches. Prasad feels India should to their tried and tested pace trio for the marque event.
Multiple reports have predicted that Ishant Sharma’s position is somewhat under threat for the marque event ahead. And, Mohammed Siraj is being tried to push to replace Sharma for his skill of swinging the ball and his ability to bowl long spells in the longest format of the game
Speaking to the PTI, the former Indian bowling coach made his opinion saying, “The strategy is very simple. Who can make use of the new ball better? Both Bumrah and Shami have got an amazing seam position and great control over line and length. I am surprised that Ishant is considered number three even after playing 100 Tests. He also has a lot of experience of playing county cricket in England.”
India is likely to go with a bowling lineup of five bowlers featuring three pacers and two spinners.
Although some cricketing experts are advising India to go with a four-person pace attack, the former cricketer who played a major in the 1996 cricket world cup feels experience and the know-how of playing alongside each other is of prime importance for the bowling attack.
India will take on New Zealand in the WTC final at the Rose Bowl in Southampton from June 18.
