As the cricketing world is getting ready to witness the most anticipated game of the cricketing season, the WTC final between Team India and New Zealand, former Indian cricketer Venkatesh Prasad has picked his choice of India’s playing XI for the high-voltage game.
Prasad has added both Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin in the playing XI. He termed his team selection a ‘no-brainer’ and stated that he is hoping for a “cracking game” at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton, starting tomorrow.
If India wins the WTC final, it will also be Virat Kohli’s first major ICC trophy victory as a captain India lock horns with New Zealand. If this has to happen, the management of the Indian Cricket Team will have to come up with some tough decisions with respect to the selection of the playing XI.
However, Prasad who took to Twitter, opined his playing XI for the side tweeting, “My Indian playing 11 for the #WTCFinal is a no-brainer (Rohit, Shubman, Pujara, Virat, Rahane, Pant, Jadeja, Ashwin, Shami, Ishant & Bumrah ). They have the depth in both batting & bowling irrespective of the pitch. Should be a cracking game.”
Prasad who has gone with two spinners in the playing XI, has dropped Hanuma Vihari who’s a middle-order batsman and has given a final birth to all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. On the other hand, with the fast bowling unit, he has inducted experienced Ishant Sharma over swing star Mohammad Siraj.
Venkatesh Prasad’s playing XI for the WTC final: Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli (c), Ajinkya Rahane, Rishabh Pant (wk), Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Mohammed Shami, Ishant Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah
