Italian heartthrob Michele Morrone is set to join the cast of The Housemaid, an upcoming film directed by Paul Feig, which also stars Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried. The film will mark Morrone’s second collaboration with Feig, following their work together on the upcoming A Simple Favor 2 sequel.
In The Housemaid, Sweeney plays Millie, a young woman who finds a fresh start working as a maid for a wealthy couple, Nina (Seyfried) and Andrew (Brandon Sklenar). Of course, in typical thriller fashion, there’s more than meets the eye at the couple’s house, promising plenty of dark secrets and suspense.
While Morrone’s role remains undisclosed (though his striking looks are likely to play a significant part), rumors surrounding him from his previous film, Subservience, have sparked plenty of buzz. In particular, Morrone was caught in some bizarre halitosis rumors after Megan Fox was seen covering her nose while speaking to him in a video. These rumors, as expected, led to more gossip, including claims that Morrone and Fox were romantically involved—rumors that Morrone’s rep swiftly denied.
The Housemaid is based on the best-selling novel by Freida McFadden, and like Morrone’s previous Subservience, it centers on a housekeeper—though this time, it’s a much darker, more sinister story. Both Sweeney and Seyfried are also executive producing, adding to their already impressive production credits.
Sweeney has been busy lately, preparing for her role as boxer Christy Martin in an upcoming biopic, while Seyfried recently starred in The Dropout and teased the possibility of a Mamma Mia! 3 with Sabrina Carpenter—something fans would surely be lining up for.
With Paul Feig’s involvement, best known for directing Bridesmaids, The Housemaid is shaping up to be an exciting project. Morrone is also staying busy with upcoming roles in Bunny-Man alongside James Franco and Bella Thorne, as well as Maserati: The Brothers with Anthony Hopkins and Jessica Alba.
As for Subservience sequels, nothing is confirmed yet, but hopefully, Morrone will continue to make waves on screen—just with better breath next time!
