Alison Arngrim has opened up about the upcoming Netflix reboot of Little House on the Prairie

Alison Arngrim, best known for playing the iconic Nellie Oleson in Little House on the Prairie, has some thoughts on the upcoming Netflix reboot—and she’s not holding back. In a chat with ReMIND, the actress expressed her concerns about the new adaptation and revealed that none of the original cast members have been approached to be involved in the project.

Netflix recently announced plans for the reboot, but Arngrim isn’t convinced it will follow the same format as the beloved 1970s series. “It’s not really a reboot in the way people might think,” she explained. “They’re not going back to Walnut Grove.”

According to Arngrim, the new show won’t feature familiar faces like Doc Baker or Miss Beadle—characters who were created specifically for the original series. Instead, the reboot will take inspiration directly from Laura Ingalls Wilder’s books.

“This is part of the Laura Ingalls Wilder multiverse,” she joked. Addressing concerns that the new series might stray too far from the source material, she reassured fans that the show’s production company, Friendly Family Productions, won’t let that happen. “If they start going too far off track and turning it into something weird, they’ll shut it down before it gets out of hand.”

One of her biggest disappointments? The fact that none of the original cast has been contacted about the new series. “As far as I know, none of us have been invited to be a part of it,” she revealed. But she’s still keeping her sense of humor about it: “I’ve been joking for years that I’m finally old enough to play Mrs. Oleson—so call me!”

While Netflix has yet to announce a release date, fans are eagerly awaiting more details on how this new take on Little House on the Prairie will bring the classic story to life.
