Anthony Mackie is gearing up to take center stage as Captain America in Brave New World, the next installment in the Marvel franchise. In a recent interview, the actor confirmed that he will once again portray Sam Wilson, this time fully stepping into the mantle of Captain America—shield and all.
But that’s not all. Mackie also revealed that Marvel Studios is looking into intertwining Brave New World with the highly anticipated Avengers: Doomsday. Speaking to ComicBook.com, he shared that by the time Doomsday rolls around, his character will be fully established as Captain America—just in time to cross paths with the legendary Doctor Doom, played by none other than Robert Downey Jr.
Mackie, who is a father of four, teased the evolution of his character, saying, “By the time you get to Doomsday, you’ll see Sam at his peak—his strongest, most confident moment—right after he takes on Red Hulk and saves the world.”
He further emphasized that Brave New World will cement Sam Wilson’s place as Captain America beyond any doubt. “By the end of this movie, there’s no question—his skills, his leadership, his compassion—it all screams Captain America,” he stated.
Adding to the hype, Brave New World producer Nate Moore confirmed in a press conference that Mackie’s Captain America will be the lead in Avengers: Doomsday. He explained that every Avengers film has always had a Captain America at its core, and now, it’s Sam Wilson’s time to take the reins—marking a new era for the iconic superhero.
Marvel fans won’t have to wait too long to see Mackie in action. Captain America: Brave New World is set to premiere on February 14, 2025, while Avengers: Doomsday is expected to begin filming in March 2025.
