Apple Cinder Vinegar Star Kaitlyn Dever Teases Her Character in the Last of Us Season 2

Kaitlyn Dever, fresh off her role in Netflix’s Apple Cider Vinegar, is set to take on a highly anticipated role in The Last of Us Season 2. The post-apocalyptic drama, based on the popular video game, follows Joel (Pedro Pascal) as he escorts Ellie (Bella Ramsey), a teenager who might be humanity’s last hope, through a ravaged world.

Dever’s character, Abby, is one of the most contentious figures in the game franchise, making her debut in the second season of the HBO series. Abby has sparked intense reactions from the fanbase, with many expressing strong dislike for her character. This backlash has even led to rumors of extra security on set, as fans’ passion towards Abby has been known to manifest in extreme ways, particularly due to her antagonistic role against Ellie.

However, Dever dismissed these rumors during an interview with Variety, saying that the claims about heightened security were untrue. Instead, she revealed that she approached her role as she would with any other, treating Abby authentically while striving to do justice to the character. Dever mentioned that she was keen on bringing her “energy” to Abby, and she hoped fans would enjoy her interpretation, despite the character’s divisive reputation.

Dever also shared her excitement for joining such a beloved franchise, acknowledging that it was a unique experience for her. Fans can look forward to seeing her portrayal of Abby when The Last of Us Season 2 drops in April 2025.
