She had been admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai on April 11 after suffering from a chest infection and extreme exhaustion. Despite medical care, the iconic singer succumbed to multiple organ failure a day later.
Her passing has left the music industry and millions of fans in deep grief. Singer and composer Shankar Mahadevan expressed his sorrow, calling it a tragic loss not just personally but for Indian music as a whole.
