While doing an Instagram Live, a troll commented, “I really wish you looked the way you used to.” Shields, clearly taken aback, responded, “Really?” This moment made her realize how out of touch some people can be and how they find enjoyment in making petty remarks.
Shields, who was promoting her new book Brooke Shields Is Not Allowed to Get Old, also discussed the immense pressure women face in Hollywood to maintain youthful appearances. She acknowledged the unrealistic beauty standards that often push actresses to chase youth, but she emphasized that beauty evolves with age. Now, she’s embracing her own journey and understanding that beauty looks different at every stage of life.
“My priority is to look my best and be healthy,” she said, adding, “I’ve earned everything that I have on my face.” Shields encouraged everyone to celebrate their accomplishments and reflect on what they want to do next, regardless of society’s expectations.
