Ananya Pandey is currently making headlines for her debut web series, “Call Me Bae.” Who doesn’t enjoy seeing a wealthy person lose everything and have to work for a living, after all?
The storyline of Call Me Bae has a special twist. ‘Bae’s’ (Ananya Panday) faces downfall after her loneliness causes her to cheat on her husband, who is from one of India’s most prominent business families. She gets abandoned by her own family as well as her in-laws after her affair is revealed. This is the start of Bae’s “struggle.”
The first episode shows Bae’s family preparing her for marriage to Agastya (Vihaan Samat), the heir of a business empire who might be able to save Bae’s family from bankruptcy. Ananya’s personality is moulded to be the ideal combination of Agastya and herself; this includes her interests, wine preferences, and clothes. In an effort to solidify her future with Agastya, she is even sent to study overseas. And it functions. Agastya makes Bae an offer to marry. Here, we see Ananya beautifully recreating Sid-Kiara’s (Siddharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani) wedding video with Vihaan. The recreation was done purely same, the little twirl, hand gestures, garland exchange, the iconic “Namaste” were on point.
