Carrie Underwood speaks out on performing at the inauguration of Donald Trump

Country music star Carrie Underwood will perform at President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration on January 20, 2025. While Underwood typically keeps her political opinions private, she expressed pride in being invited to participate in such a “historic” event.

The 41-year-old singer, known for her hits like Jesus, Take the Wheel and Before He Cheats, has often avoided taking public political stances. However, she opened up about her role in the inauguration, emphasizing that this moment is about unity, especially as the country looks toward the future. In a statement released on January 13, Underwood shared her appreciation for the invitation, saying she is “honored” to contribute to the ceremonial transition of leadership.

She told People, “I love our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the Inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event,” highlighting her commitment to coming together with others in the spirit of hope.

Underwood has always stayed away from overt political discussions, preferring to focus on music that resonates with a wide range of listeners. She’s also clarified in past interviews that many of her songs, like 2018’s The Bullet, reflect universal human experiences rather than political messages.

Despite jokingly poking fun at Trump during a comedic performance with Brad Paisley at the 2017 Country Music Association Awards, Underwood will take the stage for the 2025 inauguration ceremony, where Donald Trump will be sworn in as the 47th president of the United States.
