Chiyaan Vikram–Madonne Ashwin project in doubt; director eyes film with Karthi

Chiyaan Vikram had already announced his 63rd film alongside Maaveeran director Madonne Ashwin, provisionally named Chiyaan63. However, the actor later confirmed that his next movie would be with debutant filmmaker Bodi Rajkumar, and the producers released an action-packed announcement poster.

The actor’s cooperation with Madonne Ashwin looks to have been canceled, with the director most likely moving on to collaborate with Karthi on his next project. According to Valai Pechu, director Madonne Ashwin narrated a script to Karthi, which the actor allegedly loved. Suriya is rumored to be financing the upcoming film through his company Zhagaram Studios.

Furthermore, the report claims that the filmmaker may collaborate with Sivakarthikeyan again on a future project. While unconfirmed, it could be the sequel to Maaveeran. For the time being, these are only speculations. Amid all of this hoopla, it looks that Madonne Ashwin’s project with Chiyaan Vikram has been put on hold for the time being. The Anniyan actor recently offered an update on his upcoming films, stating that he has spent the previous year listening to various scripts and has decided to include four of them in his program.

Chiyaan Vikram last appeared in Veera Dheera Sooran: Part 2 (2025). The action thriller was directed by SU Arun Kumar and starring Dushara Vijayan, SJ Suryah, and Suraj Venjaramoodu in major parts. The actor’s upcoming project is tentatively titled Chiyaan63. While additional information regarding the film has yet to be published, Bodi Rajkumar is poised to make his debut in Tamil feature cinema. Though nothing is known about him at this time, reports indicate that he is a short filmmaker migrating to feature films. Interestingly, this is Vikram’s first collaboration with a newbie filmmaker in 23 years.

Previously, the Anniyan actor worked with debutant director Balaji Sakthivel on the film Samurai (2003). Karthi, on the other hand, was last seen in the film Vaa Vaathiyaar, which also starred Krithi Shetty. The actor is next set to star in Sardar 2, and he is now working on the historical action film Marshal.
