Cobra Kai Season 6 Ending Explained

The conclusion of Cobra Kai with Season 6 has officially wrapped up the beloved series, offering closure to long-running character arcs, intense battles, and dramatic moments. The final episodes centered around the Sekai Taikai tournament, where tensions reached a peak.

In the competition, Tory (Peyton List) secured a key win for Cobra Kai by defeating Zara from the Iron Dragons. Meanwhile, Miguel (Xolo Maridueña) faced Axel in the boys’ final. Despite a rocky start, Miguel was able to turn things around with a pep talk from Johnny (William Zabka) and won with a decisive strike. With Cobra Kai and the Iron Dragons tied, Johnny faced Sensei Wolf in the final match. After a slow start, Johnny regained his confidence with help from Daniel (Ralph Macchio) and ultimately won, securing victory for Cobra Kai and gaining national recognition for the dojo, even gracing the cover of Sports Illustrated.

The finale also marked some heavy losses, including the deaths of Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith) and John Kreese (Martin Kove). Their final confrontation on Silver’s yacht, which involved a fight and a dramatic explosion after a gasoline spill, ended their story. Their deaths were implied rather than explicitly shown, with no post-credits tease signaling that their era has come to an end. It was also confirmed that Kwon had died in the previous season.

Character arcs were wrapped up, with Chozen returning to Korea, Robby and Tory receiving lucrative offers for their karate skills, and Sam heading to Okinawa for a year-long placement, joined by Miguel. Johnny bought a house for his family and took over the original Cobra Kai dojo, intending to train students with a mix of Cobra Kai and Miyagi-do methods. Devon and Anthony continued their training for the next All-Valley tournament, while Stingray started teaching weekend classes.

The final scene showed Daniel and Johnny sharing a meal together, referencing Mr. Miyagi’s lesson about catching a fly with chopsticks. While Daniel failed, Johnny squashed the fly, symbolizing their different teaching approaches, yet mutual respect. Although the series concluded, the legacy of Cobra Kai lives on.

As for the Karate Kid franchise’s future, the upcoming movie Karate Kid: Legends, starring Ralph Macchio and Jackie Chan, was rumored to connect to Cobra Kai, but showrunner Jonathan Entwistle clarified that the film would mostly be a standalone story. The movie will introduce a new student, Li Fong (Ben Wang), trained by Daniel and Mr. Han (Jackie Chan). While there may be small nods to Cobra Kai, the film does not directly pick up from the series finale.
