The fallout from comedian Samay Raina’s controversial roast of actor Kusha Kapila during the “Pretty Good Roast Show S1” continues to draw attention. The roast, which targeted Kusha’s recent divorce from Zorawar Ahluwalia, sparked a heated debate earlier this year. Kusha had labelled the jokes as “dehumanising,” leading to significant public backlash.
In a recent Reddit AMA session, Samay candidly addressed the situation and its impact on his relationship with Kusha. When asked about their friendship, he admitted that it has not been the same since the incident. “We rarely talk, but I spoke to her recently, and it was great! I am fond of her regardless. I hope someday she and I can laugh about everything openly, but that day has time,” he shared.
During the roast, Samay made controversial remarks, including calling Kusha a “gold-digger” and referencing her shared pet dog with Zorawar in a biting joke. The comments were widely criticised for crossing the line between humour and insensitivity.
Kusha and Zorawar, who married in 2017, announced their separation in June 2023. The incident has left a lasting impact, with Samay acknowledging that moving past it remains a distant reality. Despite the tension, he expressed admiration for Kusha and said he is “always rooting for her success.”
