Ridley Scott’s long-awaited Bee Gees biopic has faced some delays, as the legendary director has opted to work on another film before diving into the project. In a recent interview with GQ, Scott revealed that Paramount’s shifting expectations on the Bee Gees project led him to temporarily step away. He expressed frustration with the studio’s change of direction, stating that when they insisted on certain adjustments, he warned them he would walk away. “They didn’t believe me, and I did,” Scott remarked.
Despite the setbacks, Scott’s confidence in his work remains unwavering. He asserted, “I’m expensive, but I’m f**king good,” as he emphasized his commitment to delivering high-quality films.
Scott’s next venture will be The Dog Stars, which is set to begin filming in April. However, he expects to return to the Bee Gees biopic, titled You Should Be Dancing, around September of this year. The film will focus on the rivalry and competition among the Bee Gees’ members, particularly their working-class origins.
This biopic marks a significant turn for Scott, as it dives into the personal dynamics of the famous band, which will be a new challenge for the director, who is also busy with the sequel to Gladiator.
Scott’s bold approach to filmmaking and his decision to prioritize his creative vision have made waves in the industry, proving his commitment to creating films that reflect his unique perspective.
