Emma Stone regrets a**hole joke about Taylor Swift and swears she’ll never do it again

Emma Stone recently faced backlash from Swifties after jokingly referring to her friend of nearly 20 years as a “a**hole” backstage at the Golden Globes and the 35-year-old actress has since said she regrets making the joke.

In a new interview with People, Stone referred to herself as a “dope” for making jokes about Taylor Swift and said that the media had taken her comments out of context. She claims to have seen the headlines and promises not to make the same mistake again. The actress said, “I definitely won’t make a joke like that again…because I saw headlines that really pulled it out of context. What a dope.”

The uproar began after Stone won her second Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy for Poor Things and was seen doing press after the ceremony.

In response to a question about Swift’s standing ovation for her, Stone said, “What an a**hole, am I right?” The crowd laughed and murmured, and Stone continued the joke by describing their friendship. She said, “I’ve known her for almost 20 years, so I’m very happy she was there. She was also nominated tonight, so I’m very happy she was there, but what an a**hole.”
