Gerard Butler recently opened up about filming Zack Snyder’s 300 and how many incidents happened on the set

Gerard Butler recently opened up about his time on the set of the 2006 epic 300, in a conversation with PEOPLE. The actor, who played King Leonidas, reminisced about the intense and physically demanding nature of the production. According to Butler, it was common for crew members to be injured on set. He recalled instances where actors would get hurt during fight scenes, including one where a spear ended up in a crew member’s eye, and another where someone broke their ankle.

Butler also discussed how the experience on 300 left a lasting impact on him, given the high-energy, physically grueling nature of the filming. The film, directed by Zack Snyder, became iconic for its stylized action and visuals. In addition to Butler, the film featured Lena Headey as Queen Gorgo, Rodrigo Santoro as Xerxes, David Wenham as Dilios, and Michael Fassbender as Stelios.

Butler was last seen in Den of Thieves 2: Pantera, where he returns as Big Nick for another action-packed thriller. The sequel, directed by Christian Gudegast, follows Big Nick as he pursues a new heist in Europe, starring O’Shea Jackson Jr. as Donnie Wilson.
