Many celebrities took to his social media handle to wish him. Being one of the most successful actors in the industry, he is always praised for his songs and dancing skills especially in his song ‘I am a disco dancer,’ even today.

The veteran actor made his debut in Bollywood with the film ‘Mrigayaa’ in the year 1976. He won the National Film Award for Best Actor for this film, which was also his first award. He is most known for playing the role of Jimmy in the ‘Disco Dancer.’ The song was a super-hit and its success was not only limited to India but was across the borders too, Russia, Southern, and Central Asia, Eastern and Western Africa, the Middle East, East Asia and Turkey. Bappi Lahiri had composed the song and the lyrics were given by Anjaan and Faruk Kaiser while Parvati Khan sang the song.

The most surprising thing about the song was, it was re-arranged for a Hollywood film called ‘You Don’t Mess With The Zohan.’ It was released in 2008 and revolves around the lives of Zohan Dvir an Israeli army counter-terrorist commando who fakes his death to pursue his dream of becoming a hairstylist in New York City. The song was used in the closing scene, starring Adam Sandler, John Turturro, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Nick Swardson, Lainie Kazan, and Rob Schneider.

The film ‘Disco Dancer’ was released in 1982. It is a story about Anil, a street singer who was humiliated and drove out of Mumbai along with his mother. However, he soon becomes a famous performer but the enemies from his past try to destroy his hard-earned career. The actor has appeared in more than 300 films. He holds a record of over 17 movie releases as lead actor in the year 1989 in the Limca Book of Records. It is still an unbreakable achievement in Bollywood. He was last seen in Ram Gopal Varma’s ’12 ‘O’ Clock.’

Wishing Mithun Chakraborty a very happy birthday.
