HBO continues to expand the Game of Thrones universe with a series of spin-offs that keep fans immersed in the world of Westeros. While House of the Dragon is heading into its third season, and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is lined up for multiple outings, HBO has revealed that another spin-off is in development.
Francesca Orsi, HBO’s head of drama, recently spoke with Deadline and hinted that one of the new spin-offs is focused on the Targaryen bloodline, although she kept details under wraps. She also mentioned that several spin-offs are being considered, but nothing is guaranteed yet. However, the studio has a large budget to bring these new series to life, with A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms described as the “most intimate” of the upcoming shows.
House of the Dragon, which has been a hit with audiences, showcases the complex politics, family dynamics, and the iconic Targaryen dragons. Milly Alcock stars as Rhaenyra Targaryen, with Olivia Cooke as Alicent Hightower and Matt Smith as Daemon Targaryen. The series is based on George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood, which explores the events 200 years before the rise of the Game of Thrones storyline.
George R.R. Martin himself has expressed his gratitude toward HBO for their dedication to developing A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, showing that the collaboration continues to be fruitful. The ongoing success of House of the Dragon solidifies the Game of Thrones franchise as a core part of HBO’s future content strategy, with more stories from Westeros on the horizon.
