Is Jared Padalecki Reteaming With Walker Showrunner For New Medical Drama?

Jared Padalecki is gearing up for an exciting new role that fans haven’t seen before. The actor, best known for his iconic role in Supernatural, is reportedly teaming up once again with Walker showrunner Anna Fricke for an untitled medical drama set to air on CBS. According to TV Line, the show is expected to be available soon.

The series will focus on a dedicated country doctor, played by Padalecki, who brings a fresh approach to medicine. He’ll team up with a young doctor, who’s hiding from her past, and together they run a mobile clinic. The duo travels across rural Texas, where they provide medical care to underserved communities, healing both bodies and souls in a “medical desert.”

This news comes on the heels of Jared’s recent three-episode stint on another CBS drama, Fire Country, where he portrayed Camden Casey, a firefighter from Southern California. Fans may also be excited to hear that Padalecki could be the star of a new Fire Country spinoff, tentatively titled Fire Country: Surfside. However, that spin-off may not debut until after the Sheriff Country spinoff, led by Morena Baccarin, which is set for the 2025-2026 TV season.

Padalecki first captured hearts with his role as Dean Forester in Gilmore Girls, where he played Rory’s complicated on-again/off-again boyfriend. His career really skyrocketed, though, when he took on the role of Sam Winchester in the hugely popular supernatural series, Supernatural, a part that earned him a dedicated fan following. Now, it looks like Jared is ready to take on more exciting projects, and this new medical drama could be just the beginning!
