Ryan Gosling could soon be making his way to a galaxy far, far away, as he is reportedly in talks to star in an untitled Star Wars film directed by Shawn Levy, known for his work on Deadpool & Wolverine. Levy has been developing the project for two years, with Banshee creator Jonathan Tropper joining as a writer in 2024.
Although the next major Star Wars movie, The Mandalorian and Grogu, is set to hit theaters in May 2026, the Star Wars franchise has largely focused on TV series since The Rise of Skywalker in 2019. Gosling, a seasoned sci-fi actor with roles in Blade Runner 2049, may bring his charm to the Star Wars universe, joining the ranks of actors like Harrison Ford, who played Han Solo.
Gosling’s recent projects include The Fall Guy and the upcoming Project Hail Mary, slated for release in March 2026. However, he has been selective about darker roles, focusing on family-friendly characters after the birth of his two daughters, Esmeralda and Amada, with partner Eva Mendes. Gosling’s involvement in the Star Wars project adds excitement, although details about the plot, title, and cast remain tightly under wraps. This new venture could mark a new chapter in his career, potentially expanding his influence in blockbuster franchises.
