Isla Fisher talks about navigating her split with ex-husband Sacha Baren Cohen

Isla Fisher didn’t hold anything back when she opened up about her split from ex-husband Sacha Baron Cohen. In a candid interview with The Sunday Times published on February 8, the Now You See Me actress reflected on the emotional toll of their breakup, calling it “the most difficult thing I’ve been through.”

Fisher admitted that she never envisioned her family being apart, emphasizing how challenging it was to come to terms with such a massive change. However, she and Cohen remain united in one crucial aspect—their love and commitment as parents. “Kids are the most important thing, and you want them to really feel safe and loved,” she shared. She described their efforts to reshape their family dynamic into something new and healthy, ensuring their children feel secure despite the separation.

Beyond co-parenting, Fisher also found strength in the incredible women in her life. She credited her close female friendships for helping her navigate the emotional rollercoaster of the split. “The women in my life have held me,” she said, visibly moved. “The friendships I’ve built in this industry have been a lifeline, and those women have been there for me through it all.”

Through this journey, Fisher has gained a deeper understanding of herself—outside of marriage, outside of partnership, and outside of the identity she once tied to being someone’s wife. “It’s been an expansive learning curve,” she admitted, saying she’s come to truly recognize her values, resilience, and independence.

Fisher and Cohen, who were married in 2010 and share three children—Olive, Elula, and Montgomery—officially ended their relationship in 2023. Despite the heartbreak, she is focused on building a future filled with love, growth, and unwavering support for their children.
