Jamie Lynn Spears explained why she left Hollywood after teen pregnancy

Jamie Lynn Spears, best known as Britney Spears’ younger sister, rose to fame as a renowned teenage actress before suddenly leaving Hollywood. Spears was a star on the television show Zoey 101 for many years before taking a break from acting. Her quick exit was due to an unplanned pregnancy while she was just 16 years old.

Spears quit Zoey 101 and moved to Los Angeles after learning she was pregnant. Spears moved to Mississippi, separating herself totally from the life of an actress and her family. She wanted to have a normal life with her children, something she believed she would not have been able to do if she had stayed in Los Angeles. She even put herself on a tight budget in order to stop getting back into her old habits in Hollywood.

What caused Jamie Lynn Spears to stop acting?

Jamie Lynn Spears was only 16 years old when she realized she was pregnant. She was just starting her acting career. Her popular show Zoey 101 was coming to an end and she was ready to move on in her career.

“I think when I wrapped Zoey there were all these plans of things like, ‘Let’s go do movies.’ I was reading scripts for things I was excited about,” Spears said to Variety in a tell-all interview.  She added, “I did real for Twilight. This was before vampires had really made their mark.”

Despite her plans, things changed when she became pregnant. She said, “But like a lot of young girls, I thought I was in love. And there I am, pregnant at 16. I was so concerned about bringing another human being into this world, but I needed to figure out who I was.”

Spears also said that the media was the primary reason why she left Hollywood and her acting career.

“The press wasn’t exactly very nice. I wanted to get as far away from it as I could. So I got a house in Mississippi. I put up a gate, put myself on a budget and said, ‘I’m gonna raise my baby back here.’ And that’s what I did for a while.” She also said, “I also wanted to show her that I could provide for her future and that I could continue on to be what I wanted to be. Bringing her into my life was not something that I regret or held me back.”

Spears made a tough choice to step away from the world she previously knew. She felt that it would be best for both herself and her kid if she avoided the harsh nature of Hollywood and the media. She preferred living a normal life and raising her child above continuing to work in Hollywood.
