Jay-Z has responded after a sexual assault lawsuit against him was dismissed, calling the case baseless and without merit. The rapper described the allegations as “frivolous, fictitious, and appalling,” stating that they were “never going anywhere.” In a statement, he expressed relief at the dismissal, emphasizing the trauma the lawsuit caused for him and his family, and condemning the accusations as a fabricated story.
He also criticized the legal strategy of the accuser’s attorney, Tony Buzbee, suggesting that the lawsuit was more about money than a genuine legal claim. Jay-Z made it clear that he wouldn’t wish the experience of being wrongfully accused on anyone, highlighting the emotional toll it took on his loved ones.
The rapper pointed out that while it’s crucial for the justice system to protect genuine victims, it’s equally important to shield innocent individuals from unfounded accusations. He emphasized the need for fairness in the courts, stressing that innocent people should not be wrongfully accused without evidence.
Jay-Z’s lawyer, Alex Spiro, supported this stance, noting the rapper’s refusal to settle or pay out money when faced with the charges. He praised Jay-Z for standing firm against what he described as spurious claims.
The lawsuit, which was originally filed against Sean Diddy Combs, was amended in December to include Jay-Z as a defendant. The accuser claimed the incidents occurred during an MTV Video Music Awards afterparty in 2000 when she was just 13 years old, alleging she was drugged before the assault. Jay-Z has strongly denied these claims, calling them an attempt at blackmail.
