Kangana Ranaut Invites Priyanka Gandhi to Watch Her Solo Directorial Debut ‘Emergency’

Kangana Ranaut’s much-anticipated solo directorial debut, Emergency, is set to release this month after several delays. The film focuses on the controversial Emergency period imposed in 1975 by then-Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, whom Kangana portrays in the movie.

In a recent interview with PTI, Kangana revealed an interaction she had with Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi in Parliament. The actor-turned-filmmaker said Priyanka complimented her work and hairstyle during their meeting. Taking the opportunity, Kangana invited her to watch Emergency. “I told her, ‘I made this film Emergency. Maybe you should see it,’ and she said, ‘Okay, maybe,’” Kangana recounted.

The BJP MP from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, expressed hope that the Gandhi family would appreciate the film, emphasizing the importance of accepting history. However, Kangana has been critical of the Congress party in the past, calling it a nepotism-driven entity. After winning her MP seat last year, she referred to Priyanka and Rahul Gandhi as “nepo kids” and accused them of being out of touch with reality.

Emergency has faced several challenges, including delays, but remains one of the most anticipated political dramas of the year. The film aims to shed light on one of India’s most contentious political events. With Kangana’s bold portrayal of Indira Gandhi, audiences and critics alike are eager to see her take on this pivotal chapter in Indian history.
