Katy Perry isn’t letting critics shake her confidence—thanks to her therapist! In a recent interview with People magazine, the Dark Horse singer opened up about her approach to handling album reviews, revealing that she’s learned to stay unfazed by negative feedback.
“My therapist said something that really changed my life,” Perry shared, explaining that she now avoids reading reviews altogether, whether positive or negative. Her focus is on creating music that makes her happy rather than worrying about outside opinions.
Her upcoming album, 143, holds special meaning for her, as it was shaped by her experience of becoming a mother. Perry explained that stepping into motherhood helped her tap into “divine” feminine energy, allowing her to write songs that celebrate love.
“Unconditional love is something I had been searching for my entire life,” she admitted. “That was a cliché, and it’s actually true.”
Despite the excitement surrounding her new music, Perry has faced backlash for continuing to collaborate with producer Dr. Luke, who has been embroiled in a lengthy legal battle with Kesha. Addressing the controversy on the Call Me Daddy podcast last year, Perry defended her decision, saying, “My experience of my whole life going through this metamorphosis, and he was one of the people to help facilitate all that.”
As she gears up for her Lifetimes Tour in support of 143, Perry remains focused on making music that resonates with fans—regardless of what the critics have to say.
