Khloé Kardashian is unsure if she’ll be as laid-back as her mom, Kris Jenner, when it comes to her kids’ future dating lives. On a recent episode of Khloé in Wonder Land, the reality star opened up about her concerns, reflecting on how her own parents handled her relationships versus how she expects to react when her daughter True, 6, and son Tatum, 2, start dating.
Growing up, Kardashian recalled that her parents took a relaxed approach to her relationships, something she admired but admitted she may struggle to replicate. “My parents were super chill. I don’t think I’m going to be like that, and I want to be. I’m always like, ‘What would Kris Jenner do?’” she shared.
Her podcast guest, family law attorney Laura Wasser, chimed in, suggesting that people often follow their mother’s example, especially if they look up to them. While she acknowledged that Khloé might be more protective than her siblings, Wasser believed she would eventually ease up and mirror Kris’s approach. “You’re gonna be like your mom,” she assured her.
Despite her hopes of channeling Kris’s cool demeanor, Kardashian admitted she might have a harder time being objective when it comes to her own children. She imagined herself being overly protective, especially with True, fearing potential heartbreak or bad decisions. “When you’re 15 and dating someone, you see the car crash about to happen. I would be like, ‘Get the f— away from this douche,’” she joked. “Whereas my mom was like, ‘It’s okay.’ I don’t know what…the tequila, the vodka.”
Although she worries about how she’ll handle these situations, Kardashian praised Kris for her ability to let go and allow her children to learn from their own experiences. She admitted that she’s not quite as relaxed as her mom but hopes to embrace a similar mindset when the time comes.
